This compact, battery-powered ECG Simulator is designed for performance testing, demonstration and training applications. It uses plug-in Memory Modules that let you select from a variety of normal and abnormal shapes appropriate for your test and training applications. This means that you can test fetal and adult ECG monitors, ECG recorders, and Holter and Stress Test Systems with the same simulator.

The Model 311 offers precise, independent control of the width, rate, amplitude and polarity of the ECG in addition to selection of the shape from four waveforms in each plug-in Memory Module. It allows testing of ECG monitors and heart rate meters as specified in the ANSI/AAMI Standard. (The American National Standard for Cardiac Monitors, Heart Rate Meters and Alarms, ANSI/AAMI, EC13-1992.)

Output features include a high ECG output and a trigger pulse generated at the beginning of each beat that can be used to activate external devices.

Input features include the capability to trigger any of the four ECG waveshapes at any desired rate, within the range of zero to 1500 BPM, using an external pulse generator. In addition, ac and dc signals generated by external sources can be mixed with the simulated ECG. Special provision is made for triggering the simulator from a pacemaker and mixing the output of the pacemaker with the simulated ECG. Since the simulated ECG also appears at the rear panel pacer terminal, the pacemaker may be operated in either the demand or fixed rate mode.
